Wisdom of a Child

Tonight my 7 1/2 year old daughter was watching something on the television that referenced the White House. All of a sudden I hear the following from her:

"Mom, it would be cool to visit the White House and President Obama. . ."

I'm deciding whether I should say anything in response when she continues after a brief pause.

". . . and to tell him about Jesus."

At this I smile, my heart is warmed.

"The Bible tells us to do that, you know Mommy. We are supposed to tell others about God's News!"

I must say I'm so honored that the Lord has blessed me with the privilege of raising this child. At times I worry about whether I'm doing all I should to raise her in today's world to have a heart for God. Will she truly grow up to be a woman of God? But then moments like this come along and my worries are laid to rest. She has grown so much over the past year and I'm amazed at how clearly she is able to hear from God at times and the clarity and wisdom she has. I must say, at times I envy it - I think sometimes she "gets it" much more than I do!
